If you're voting today, Brazos County's 27 open vote centers run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and you can use any of them. Anyone in line at 7 p.m. gets to vote, Elections Administrator Trudy Hancock said. Early voting ended Friday with a record turnout for a midterm, and KBTX reports more than 56,000 residents voted early.

One site is out. College Heights Assembly of God at 4100 Old College Road in Bryan won't open because its air conditioning went out, and portable units could overload circuits and affect the voting machines. If you normally vote there, Hancock said the closest options are or College Station City Hall, and WTAW reports Legends is about 1.9 miles away. We suggest checking the full list at BrazosVotes.org.

  • Photo ID required: Texas driver's license, handgun license or U.S. passport
  • Also accepted: passport card, military photo ID, citizenship certificate with photo
  • Registered in another county? A provisional ballot here won't count
  • Results: early and mail ballots post shortly after 7 p.m.

Hancock called the early turnout "fabulous," and officials expect high Election Day turnout to follow.

Brazos County ESD 1 opens a $5.3 million fire station on Koppe Bridge Road

Brazos County opened its new Fire Station 1 and headquarters at 6055 Koppe Bridge Road on Monday evening. A grand opening drew a steady stream of neighbors. The project moves the department from an all-volunteer model to a full-time, staffed operation as emergency calls climb in rural neighborhoods.

District leaders stretched taxpayer dollars by retrofitting an existing building on the property.

“This is our first station that we have that is purposely built to house firefighters, not just the trucks the way we did with the volunteer stations.”

Chet Barker, South Brazos County Fire Department assistant chief

Crews added apparatus bays, restrooms and administrative space. Barker said convincing officials and securing funding took a decade, followed by two years of planning and construction.

  • Staffing: paid firefighters, because call volume outgrew volunteers

So this happened @ 0545 10/31/26 in drizzly weather on highway 6 close to exit 21.

“A semi was off to the right w/hazards blinking so I moved to the left & 💥. Had no idea what I initially hit because it was SO big, actually thought it was lumber. I’m ok but sore. AAA said he didn’t even see it so I guess others drove over it. Hope they didn’t sustain any damages to their vehicles. I had warned him…”
