CRIME NEWS

  • Crystal Allen was sentenced to 20 years in jail—she must repay $260,000 to a College Station woman after defrauding her.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • College Station’s Parks and Recreation Department will begin an after-school program on Aug. 13 at the Lincoln Recreation Center for students ages 6 to 15 where they can receive homework help, tutoring and play sports and games. The program runs weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m. until Dec. 19 (costs are $80 for residents, $100 for non-residents and $48 for qualifying households) and transportation is available for a fee.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Brazos County Commissioners Court unanimously ended the controversial Inner Loop East project during Tuesday’s meeting after residents raised concerns about property impacts—canceling the eleven million dollar study and the twenty mile roadway proposal.  The Eagle
  • Brazos County Pct. 2 Commissioner Chuck Konderla said Tuesday in court he will not run for reelection next year—voters will have a new choice in the upcoming election.  The Eagle
