- ➤ Local food pantries in Brazos and Grimes counties are preparing for a surge in demand as officials warn that a government shutdown may force federal workers to lose income — over 2,300 workers in the area might have to seek food assistance. Pantries have stocked supplies for two or three months and are ready to offer immediate help to families facing hardship. KXXV
