CULTURE NEWS

  • Aiden Ross from College Station advanced to the next round after his impressive performance in the season premiere of 'The Voice' on Monday night.  The Eagle
  • Marilyn Melcher Maddox of College Station turned her father's World War II letters, diary, and memorabilia into the book A German Texan in World War II—showing his service in North Africa and Italy and how his German background shaped his experience. The hardcover will release Oct. 1 via Texas A&M University Press, and Maddox will host a book signing at College Station Barnes & Noble on Oct. 25.  The Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M was ranked 21st among public universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, marking a strong performance for local students.  The Eagle
  • An anonymous professor at Texas A&M wrote an open letter urging students to join together to fight political pressure that put teachers at risk. Two faculty members confirmed the letter, which said that if students do not act soon, outside forces may change education at A&M — a change that could harm future learning.  The Battalion

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • College Station city council will hold a workshop on Oct. 9 at City Hall to discuss a small area plan for Midtown that addresses residents' concerns after they were left off a potential recreation center site + focuses on connectivity, signage, and new local investments.  KXXV
