- ➤ The Texas A&M chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity was suspended Monday pending an investigation into hazing allegations that forced pledges into intense exercise and manual labor that left some ill and required hospital transfers — a criminal investigation is underway by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students and faculty at Texas A&M protested on Sept 22 at Academic Plaza—responding to former President Welsh’s resignation, the firing of a professor, and the removal of key administrators. Organizers said the protest aimed to protect academic freedom and urged the Board of Regents to reinstate those removed and address political pressure on the university. The Battalion
- ➤ On Monday night, Texas A&M students and faculty protested at Academic Plaza to defend academic freedom after President Mark Welsh resigned and several administrative changes were made—organizers demanded transparency in the search for a new president and called for protections that keep classroom discussions free from political influence.
