Texas A&M Chancellor Glenn Hegar said today that he does not foresee faculty senates disappearing even with Senate Bill 37 that could eliminate them by Sept.

1—he will advise the board on implementing the law on Aug. 27 and focus on lowering student debt to boost graduation rates. His remarks come as he plans to strengthen student outcomes and economic opportunities across the system.

The College Station City Council approved issuing $17 million in general obligation bonds + $17.25 million in certificates of obligation at Thursday’s council meeting.

College Station City Council voted to move ahead with two projects at Veterans Park—one to add three new baseball fields, including a field that could be the new home for the Bombers, and one to upgrade park amenities like signage and play areas.

The improvements are planned over the next five to 10 years at an estimated cost of $4 million.
