Larry Bollin was sentenced to life in prison with a $10,000 fine on July 21 after a Brazos County jury found him guilty of murdering Timothy Smith at Kent Moore Cabinets in 2021—he also injured four others, including a trooper who lost his eye—after his unprovoked shooting.

Texas A&M University's Veterinary Emergency Team in College Station will receive $5 million in state funding over the next two years to build new facilities and boost its disaster response capacity.

The team will use the funds to add staff and improve equipment for helping animals during emergencies — including search-and-rescue work during floods.
