Portillo's — a Chicago-style fast food chain — is coming to College Station at the former Las Palapas site on Texas Avenue.

Today, President Mark Welsh announced that Bill Kibler will start as Vice President of Student Affairs on August 1 after Joe Ramirez retired in January.

Kibler brings more than 40 years of experience in higher education and will lead all student services at the university.

The Texas Legislature struck down College Station's rule that limits dwellings to no more than four unrelated people, ending the local occupancy restriction.

Texas A&M veterinarian Dr. Lori Teller said SB 2155—a bill that would let vets prescribe animal medication via telemedicine without an initial exam—removes important safety checks; the bill did not receive a vote and advocates plan to push for it again in 2027.
