- ➤ A Texas A&M research team in College Station is testing optical propulsion technology that may cut travel time to the nearest star from over 1,000 years to 20. The team plans to secure funding and scale up experiments+targeting uses for satellites and cargo ships. The Battalion
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bryan City Council approved over $1.5 million in federal funds to build a shared-use path and bridge along East 29th Street between Carter Creek Parkway and Autumn Circle. The project is expected to begin in 2027 — officials say it will boost safety for walkers, cyclists, and scooter riders. KXXV

- ➤ Axtell native Randal Voss, known as the Pumped Ump, will bring his creative umpiring and crowd stunts to Kyle Field when the Savannah Bananas play on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. A friend’s call launched Voss on his journey back to the game he loves. KXXV
- ➤ Plan to see the Savannah Bananas at Kyle Field Saturday; parking costs range from $30 to $40, concession prices remain steady, and team clothing will be sold at the stadium and local retailers. A duo should budget about $100 and pay by card as cash is not accepted. KXXV
