Today, Brazos County's 'R U OK' program calls residents aged 55 weekly to ask if they are ok and sends a sheriff's deputy if there is no answer (the program is free and 40 locals have signed up).
College Station resident Gayle Behrle said the check-ins help elderly neighbors feel safe and valued.
🎭 Culture
The George Bush Presidential Library & Museum will open the Music America: Iconic Objects From America’s Music History exhibit on May 5.
The exhibit will show artifacts from colonial times through rock and roll — a look at America's long music history.
🏛️ Government
College Station will hold a public groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station No. 7, a project approved by voters in the 2022 bond election—set to open in fall 2026.
Mayor John Nichols and Fire Chief Richard Mann will address the event—open to everyone.
