Texas A&M's Board of Regents approved Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar as the system's next chancellor in a special meeting held yesterday—his selection is now official.

TEEX hosted its 17th Disaster Day drill in College Station on Friday where about 700 Texas A&M students simulated a train wreck with a toxic chemical spill — the exercise required decontamination, triage and treatment in a controlled emergency response scenario.

On Thursday, the Texas House held a two-hour hearing on House Bill 2797 which would stop cities from limiting the number of people living together based on familial ties—local officials, residents, and student representatives in College Station argued that current occupancy rules hurt affordable housing while supporters claim the bill will lower costs. The measure will now move to the House Land & Resource Management Committee for further review.
