- ➤ College Station Police said that engineering freshman Nikman Sarraf was hit by a vehicle near Wellborn Rd and Fidelity St on March 20 and later died at a local hospital — his family was notified and the driver remained at the scene. The Battalion
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ College Station man Garrett Austin Mulholland faced multiple felony charges after he allegedly strangled his wife and child early Thursday at 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of Deacon Drive and Durango Court — all three were transported to a local hospital for treatment. KXXV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas A&M researchers said they are concerned about the annual Texas Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater, where families see rattlesnakes being decapitated and skinned for a show—practices they say hurt snake populations and send the wrong message about these animals. They hope future events will instead teach people about snake behavior and the important role these species play in Texas ecosystems. The Battalion
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ College Station changed the left turn signal at Texas Avenue and Harvey Mitchell Parkway by removing the flashing yellow arrow during peak hours (7-9 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m.) to reduce accidents. The change comes after 92 crashes between 2020 and 2024 (53 involving left turns), with only one crash occurring since the modification was made in December. KXXV
- ➤ State lawmakers are proposing to add the University of Houston-Victoria to the Texas A&M System as its 12th campus.
