EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M ended the Women’s and Gender Studies program on Friday, Jan. 30 after a course review canceled six courses that violated new policies. Current students will finish the program in a teach out lasting up to six months — the decision was due to low enrollment and compliance challenges.  The Battalion
  • The annual 50 Men Who Can Cook fundraiser will be held Feb. 6 to benefit CSISD Education Foundation by supporting classroom projects, scholarships, and educational programs. Organizers say the event will showcase local culinary talent and strengthen community ties.  The Eagle
  • Texas A&M completed a course review last Friday and canceled six classes and its women's studies program as part of a revised curriculum. The change affects student course options and will shape upcoming class offerings.  The Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Texas A&M regents committee of facilities and construction met on Thursday in College Station to review eight proposed facilities projects — the proposals may be voted on at next week's quarterly regent's meeting.  The Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rabbi Leibel Lazaroff from College Station was shot while volunteering at a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach during an attack last month — he spent six weeks in intensive care and was released from hospital today as he begins rehabilitation in Australia.  KXXV
